The yellow and Red colors will not print and the black is more reddish.  When I try to clean the print head I get an error message that says it cannot complete the task and to check the printer

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 7001 is experiencing some issues related to ink flow and possibly print head errors. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels: First, make sure that the ink levels in the printer are sufficient. Low ink levels can cause poor color quality and other printing issues.

Inspect the Ink Tanks and Print Head:

  • Ensure that the ink tanks are properly installed and that there is no leakage or blockage.
  • Check if the ink tubes that connect the ink tanks to the print head are kinked, bent, or clogged. These can restrict the flow of ink.

Manual Print Head Cleaning:

  • If automatic cleaning fails, you can try manually cleaning the print head. Remove the print head from the printer (refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions).
  • Use distilled water and a lint-free cloth to gently clean the print head. Avoid touching the nozzles or electronic components.
  • Dry the print head completely before reinstalling it.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. HP regularly releases updates to fix bugs and improve performance.
  • You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

Check for Error Codes: The error message about not being able to complete the print head cleaning could be more specific in the printer’s manual or on HP's support website. Look up the exact error code for more detailed troubleshooting steps.

Realign the Printer: Sometimes, realigning the printer can help resolve print quality issues. You can usually do this through the printer’s control panel under the maintenance settings.
