Hi @BlueNY,

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer shows a “Printhead / cartridges not detected” error, works briefly after cleaning, and then the error returns. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the printer
Turn the printer on, then unplug the power cord from the rear while it is still powered on.
Wait about 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord, and turn the printer back on.

Reseat the printhead and cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and remove all cartridges.
Lift the printhead latch (if your model has a removable printhead), remove the printhead, then reinstall it firmly and lock the latch.
Reinstall the cartridges one at a time.

Clean electrical contacts again
Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper contacts on the printhead and inside the carriage.
Allow everything to dry completely before reinstalling.

Check cartridges individually
Install cartridges one at a time and close the access door after each installation.
This can help identify if one cartridge is triggering the error.

Update printer firmware
If the printer reaches the home screen, open HP Smart → Advanced Settings → Printer Update and install any available updates.

Print a test page
Print a Printer Status Report to confirm whether the printer can detect the printhead consistently.

I hope this helps.
