Hi, I had a print head error message.  I’ve unplugged printer and also installed new print heads.  Still having the same error.  Any suggestions?

Hi @JBreaux,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are encountering a print head error message even after unplugging the printer and installing new print heads. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Installation:

  • Ensure that the print heads are correctly installed in their designated stalls. Each stall may have a color-coded indicator; make sure the print head matches the stall color.
  • Double-check that print heads are securely snapped into place.

Verify Print Head Components:

  • Confirm that the print head, ink cartridge, and print head cleaner are compatible and are designed to work together. These components should typically be replaced together to maintain their functionality as a system.

Clean Contacts:

  • Turn off and unplug the printer.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on both the print head and within the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Ensure contacts are dry before reinserting.

Reset the Printer:

  • Restart the printer after a few minutes of being powered down to see if the error persists.

Replace Missing Ink System Components:

  • If the error message indicates a missing component, follow any prompts on the printer display to replace or realign print head components.

Perform a Nozzle Check:

  • As part of diagnosing, some printers can perform a nozzle check to determine if the print head is functioning correctly by printing a test page.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
