Hi @BDC99,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A gray stripe down the side of your printed pages on the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw can be caused by several issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Check the Toner Cartridge:
- Remove the toner cartridge and inspect it for any signs of damage or leaking toner. Sometimes a defective cartridge can cause streaks or stripes.
- Shake the cartridge gently to evenly distribute the toner inside. This can sometimes resolve minor issues related to uneven toner distribution.
Clean the Printer:
- Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean any toner residue from the cartridge area. Be careful not to touch the imaging drum on the cartridge as fingerprints can cause defects.
- Look inside the printer for any excess toner or debris that might be causing the stripe. Clean any internal areas gently without touching sensitive components.
Check the Imaging Drum:
- The imaging drum can also be the cause of stripes if it’s worn out or damaged. Inspect it for any visible signs of wear or damage.
- If you see any scratches or marks on the drum, it might need to be replaced.
Print a Cleaning Page:
- Most HP LaserJet printers allow you to print a cleaning page that can help clean the internal parts of the printer and remove any dust or debris that might be causing print quality issues.
- Check the printer's manual or control panel for an option to print a cleaning page.
Check the Paper:
- Ensure that the paper you are using is clean and of good quality. Poor quality or damaged paper can sometimes cause printing issues.
- Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and that the guides are snug but not too tight against the paper.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Hp often release updates to fix bugs and improve performance.
- You can check for firmware updates on HP's official website or through the HP Smart app.
Print a Test Page:
- After performing these steps, print a test page to see if the issue persists. If the stripe is still there, you may need to replace the toner cartridge or the imaging drum.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
