Printed photos are too dark

Photos printed on glossy paper with HP Smart Tank 790 appear too dark compared to the PC screen or Iphone screen (original view). Faces that are a bit shaded on the screen look bronzed on the print. Previous complaints I have found on this site refer to older printers and the community responses are not helpful.

Viewing a printed flat (or glossy) paper rendition of your image is very different from viewing that same image through a lighted (or backlit) screen.  There are many articles on the 'net that describe the differences.

What you do depends on several factors, including:

• Which Operating System / version you are running
• The tools (applications / software) available to you on the device (computer, tablet, phone)
• What, if anything, you are willing to do to improve quality of the printed image
• The time you are willing to spend on the process

Microsoft Photos - Windows - provides simple editing tools to Adjust your color options.

HP Smart - Windows and Mobile - apps offer simple editing tools meant to help you adjust the photo's characteristics before save or print.

Windows

Open HP Smart > Scan > IMPORT your saved photo or scan a printed photo on the printer flatbed

Set the boundary around the edges of the photo (full)

Select to Edit the image

Select the edit set >> Adjust

Select the changes to the settings

Done

Save, Print, or Share

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan > Edit > edit sets > Adjust

The Edit and Adjust tools are available in HP Smart Mobile (iOS / iPadOS)

Example - HP Smart - Mobile - Scan > Change Source to "Files and Photos" -

Find and Open your file > set / adjust edges / boundary > Select Edit > Edit options > Adjust

Done > Next Option:  Save / Share / Print
