I'm signed up with instant ink and everything is up to date, I've installed a new black ink that was sent out as part of the subscription, but it's coming up with an error message.
'if you have an HP"+printer,
I've tried everything suggested but still no joy.
Has anyone has the same issue and managed to fix it?
Thanks

Hi @Kels_80,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry you're dealing with this frustrating issue, especially with a subscription service that’s meant to simplify things—it must be disappointing. Let’s figure this out together.
- Is the error message specific to the cartridge (e.g., "incompatible ink" or "cartridge error"), or does it mention another issue?
- Have you confirmed that the cartridge you installed matches the model and region for your HP printer?
- Did you try reinstalling the cartridge and ensuring there’s no protective tape or debris on it?
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Verify that the cartridge you received matches the printer model (e.g., HP+ 4200 series) and that it’s compatible with your region.
Inspect the Cartridge and Printer:
- Remove the cartridge and check for any protective tape, dirt, or debris on the electrical contacts.
- Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on, then reinstall the cartridge.
Check Printer Connectivity with Instant Ink Service:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the internet so it can validate the cartridge with HP Instant Ink.
- Check for any error messages in the HP Smart app or printer dashboard related to connectivity.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Remove and reinsert the cartridge, making sure it clicks firmly into place.
- If you have another Instant Ink cartridge, try swapping to rule out a defective cartridge.
