HP Deskjet 6980
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Deskjet 6980 continues offline error due to ink cartridge model 97 color shown by blinking of cartridge symbol on status panel,.  Thus I am unable to print anything!  This is a genuine HP cartridge.  In fact I have tried 3 different 97 HP cartridges. Each works for a day or less and then errors.  I have reinserted each multiple times; also deleted and re-added printer device--basically done everything listed by HP including multiple power cycle printer reboots.  The printer is connected to the network via ethernet, where it is live  and pingable.

The printer is out of warranty so no human support person at HP will talk to me.  The virtual agent chat just goes around in circles telling me to do things I have already tried.  I am on my 3rd NEW 97 cartridge.  When I installed it I got the successful test printout for a new cartridge.  It worked fine for about a day and then the flashing cartridge error started up again.  I can't afford to keep buying new ink cartridges.

I just replaced color cartridges with new ones and continue to get message that I can not continue printing due to damaged or malfunctioning cartridge.  The printer video showed it was the "red" one.  Went and got a new cartridge and replaced it and printer is still saying I have a damaged cartridge.  They are all brand new and the red one twice replaced.

Printer unusable and screen tells me to leave printer on or it could be damaged.  I can't leave the printer on as the FAX takes over and won't allow our land line to work.  This issue just recently started.
