My black printer cartridge does not fit properly. It keeps saying "Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartridge . . ."
I have removed and reinstalled numerous times, but it still indicates the same thing. The last cartridge sent was longer than the previous ones, but it worked for a while. My power went off for 8 days, and when it came back on, this indicator has been saying same since. The cartridge # is supposed to be 63, but the one sent last is 63/302 65/304.
I want you to send me the 603 black cartridge, please. I have been without a printer for more than a month now.
I called and was told the system was being updated, and I would need to call back ina couple of hours.
This is very frustrating to me. I need my printer.
I am an instant ink customer. Thank you. [Personal Information Removed]

Hi @Gentry4,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've been through a lot with this printer cartridge issue. The HP OfficeJet 4650 typically uses HP 63 cartridges, so using a 63/302 65/304 cartridge could be causing compatibility issues. Although it did work initially, sometimes firmware updates or hardware resets can result in such cartridges being no longer accepted.
To resolve this.
Confirm Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure you're using the standard HP 63 Black cartridge, specifically labeled for the OfficeJet 4650 model. Cartridges with combined numbers like 63/302 or 65/304 may not be fully compatible, as these are regional cartridges.- Reset the Printer: Try unplugging your printer for a full two minutes to reset it completely. Once done, plug it back in and reinstall the cartridge.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes the power outage can lead to buildup or slight misalignment. With the printer off, gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth to ensure there’s a good connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
