Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

I mostly use HP cartridges.  However, I purchased two generic cartridges several months ago and discovered that HP's printer new firmware will not allow the non-HP cartridges because it might "damage the print heads and void the warranty" (my printer is out of warranty) and because they want to "ensure a good print experience".  I understand that the earlier versions of the printer firmware do not have this function.  Does anyone know how to find earlier versions of the firmware online?  One cartridge maker had the old firmware but HP required them to take it off their site.

[If HP required third parties to remove links to old versions of the firmware from third party sites I would doubt you will find it here.]
