When replacing my Black 952XL cartridge i got this meesage "There is a problem with the supply system."  I've replace old cartridge with brand new full HP 952 XL black cartridge and I get the same error message.   I've done all the diagnostics on your website and still doesn't resolve my issue.  When I put the old empy cartridge in I don't get that message, only that the cartridge is empty.   Please help.

Hello @Kajiokas, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let me know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that I can assist you further?

In the meantime, please try the troubleshooting steps provided below and give us an update.

Step 1: Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts

Residue or dust can sometimes prevent the printer from recognizing a new cartridge properly.

  • Turn the printer on and open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the black cartridge (95XL) from the slot.
  • Locate the gold/copper contact area on the cartridge and inside the carriage.
  • Using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water, gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Allow the contacts to dry for about 5 minutes, then reinstall the cartridge securely until it clicks into place.

Step 2: Perform a Hard Reset

This helps reset the internal sensors and clears temporary errors.

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer back on and allow it to return to an idle state.

Step 3: Check for a Defective Cartridge

Even new cartridges can occasionally be faulty.

  • If available, try installing a different new cartridge.
  • This helps determine if the issue is related to the cartridge chip rather than the printer.

Step 4: Clean the Printhead

Ink buildup or air blockage in the printhead can lead to supply system errors.

  • Remove all cartridges and carefully release the printhead assembly.
  • Clean the electrical contact strip on the printhead using a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
  • Reinstall the printhead, secure the latch, and reinsert the cartridges.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
