Previously, I was able to open the printer icon on my desktop to see how much toner was available to use. Today, when I open the icon I get a completely different page with no option to check toner. The three options given pertains to setting up a new printer. How can I get the old set-up back to see how much toner is still available to use?

Welcome to the HP Community --
What you do depends on
- Your Operating System / version
- Whether you have previously installed the full driver printer software
- Whether the underlying cause of the issue is related to a printer or to a printer queue (for example, HP Smart Printing)
- How badly the software / printer presence is corrupted
Example - Windows
Windows 11
Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Select / Open Printer > Remove
Windows 10
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers
Right-Click on the printer > Remove Device
Next,
Add the printer back into Devices and Printers
OR
Use Add Printer in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
If you are asked whether to use the installed printer software, confirm (yes).
Follow any prompts.
If that works, you are done.
If that doesn't work,
Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features
Restart the computer and sign in
Download / Save and Install a fresh copy of the Full Feature Software.
Example - Windows - Full Feature Software
Details Page - Driver - For your Printer
>>> Full Feature Software - Web Pack Installation Package - Information - Download / Save / (then) Install <<<
HP OfficeJet 4650 series Print and Scan Driver and Accessories
If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.
After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop.
Note: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.
