A teacher has an OJ 6968 printer.  The printer is not printing anything in black.  Color is fine.   The printer does show the black ink cartridge as full.

I have replaced the black ink cartridge.  I have performed a cleaning, alignment and calibrate.   Nothing seems to work.

Hi @pfisher ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've already replaced the black ink cartridge and performed cleaning, alignment, and calibration without success, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check for Air Bubbles: Sometimes, air bubbles can form in the ink cartridge, preventing the ink from flowing properly. Try removing the black cartridge, gently shake it, and reinstall it. This can help dislodge any air bubbles.

Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle: Most printers have an option to clean the printhead. Use your printer's software or control panel to initiate a deep cleaning or printhead cleaning cycle specifically for the black ink.

Check for Clogs: Inspect the printhead for any clogs or dried ink. Some printers allow you to remove the printhead for closer inspection. If you see any dried ink or debris, carefully clean it with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab dampened with distilled water.

Perform a Manual Printhead Cleaning: If your printer allows manual access to the printhead, you can try cleaning it manually. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware or drivers installed. Sometimes, updating the printer's software can resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.

Try a Different Black Cartridge: While you've replaced the black cartridge, there's still a chance that the new cartridge is faulty. If possible, try using another new black cartridge to rule out the possibility of a defective cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-

Thanks for the information but I have tried the Printhead cleaning. On the printer itself, it only does one level or one pass of cleaning.   There is no option to go to a second level of print head cleaning.

I tried connecting a PC to the printer using a Usb cable to do the printhead cleaning and there is no "deep" cleaning of the print heads.
