Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I purchased my printer yesterday and installed the starter ink. I’m only going to use the printer for about 4 days. It’s located in my secondary home and I probably won’t use the printer again for months.  What is the best method of letting the printer sit — should I remove the cartridges then reinsert them when I return? Or should I leave them in the printer even though they may be expired when I return and just insert new cartridges on my return?
