Had this laser printer/scanner a couple of months now, and I'm regretting buying it. Bought it only for infrequent use, as ink on an inkjet (HP Envy 6234) dried out too soon, requiring me to replace cartridges every few weeks. So for the Laserjet 4302dw...
1. Not easy for the average joe to set up. Followed the instructions and the instructions didn't work, but I thought I had a few useful skills. Apparently not.
2. Had 2 separate 1-hour calls with HP Customer Care Centre to get printer set up. If it takes a skilled HP Tech 2 hours, then what hope did I have ?
3. Every few weeks, printer would decide not to print, despite me not changing any settings from the time that it did print. Had to delete and re-install drivers to get it to work again.
4. Latest position was that both printing and scanning failed to work, with fatal error F0.01.01.02 on micro screen. So another 1-hour call to HP. Same stuff again, printers, drivers, USB connection cancelled/deleted/removed, and reinstalled. Several times. But printing now works fine again. Care Centre staff however very professional, efficient, helpful, so its not them I blame. Scanning worked with technician but she didn't say that my scanning app had to be replaced, but I worked that out myself.
5. Proof of the pudding will be whether it all works again tomorrow. So much for plug and play. Its a pity that my activities require some things to be printed on paper, or image-captured other than on my phone.
