Hi @Ice32,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a "Printer Failure" message on your HP Officejet Pro 8615 after installing a new black ink cartridge, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cable, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.

Check for Jammed Paper:

  • Open the printer cover and check for any jammed paper inside.
  • Remove any paper jams carefully.

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Make sure the black ink cartridge is correctly installed. Open the printer cover and ensure that the cartridge is securely in place.

Clean Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
  • Open the printer cover and remove the black ink cartridge.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge using a lint-free cloth.
  • Clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge is inserted.
  • Reinstall the black ink cartridge and turn on the printer.

Update Firmware/Driver:

  • Visit the official HP support website and check for any firmware or driver updates for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available updates.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.

Check for Error Codes:

  • Look for any error codes or specific details on the printer display. This information can help narrow down the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
