Hi @Alisha39,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer. If the black cartridge is not communicating, you can try resetting the printer, cleaning the ink cartridge and carriage electrical contacts, or using single-cartridge mode. If none of these steps work, it could be a hardware failure.

Here are the steps to reset your printer.

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Tap the Setup icon on the printer display.
  3. Tap Printer Maintenance.
  4. Select Restore.
  5. Touch Restore Factory Defaults.
  6. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

To assist better:

  • Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
  • Does the copy print out the same way?
  • What's the application you are trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove the USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
