I've been using my HP Office Jet Pro 9015e for over two years now (privately and home office) without any problems. Two days ago I started the printer and wanted to print out a page.
The display showed an error message "cartridge problem - one or more cartridges have an issue". In my case, all four cartridges had an issue.
I followed the steps shown in the HP support video. I took out the cartridges, put them back in. I removed the power cable and plugged it back in. I used new original HP cartridges.
Still the same issue - "cartridge problem".
I haven't moved the printer, the issue came up out of the blue. Anyone has any expierence with this?

Hi @Basti_Munich,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to encounter this kind of error, especially when the printer was working fine before. Since you've already followed the basic troubleshooting steps and even used new original HP cartridges, here are a few more things you could try.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts inside the printer or on the cartridges can get dirty, leading to communication errors. Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water to gently wipe the copper contacts on both the cartridges and the printer.
- Check for Ink or Obstructions: Ensure there’s no ink buildup, dust, or other obstructions inside the cartridge slot. Even a tiny bit of debris could cause the error message to appear.
- Perform a Printer Reset: Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for about 10 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. This can sometimes help clear lingering issues.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's any firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, a software update can resolve compatibility issues with the cartridges.
- Check for a Software Glitch: If you're printing from a computer, try printing directly from the printer’s control panel instead to rule out any potential issues with the connection.
If none of these steps help, it could be worth trying a different set of cartridges (even if they're new) to see if one of them is defective or if there's a deeper issue with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
