Hi @plc65,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When the printer cartridges do not move, it usually indicates a mechanical issue or a problem with the printer's internal mechanisms. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Steps to Resolve Printer Cartridges Not Moving:
Turn Off and On the Printer:
- Power off the printer and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer's access door to check for any obstructions or paper jams that might be preventing the cartridges from moving.
Manually Move the Carriage:
-
- With the printer turned off, gently try to move the cartridge carriage to the center. If it moves freely, there may be no mechanical obstruction.
- If it does not move, do not force it. There may be an internal issue that needs to be addressed by HP support.
Check and Clean Carriage Path:
- Inspect the path of the carriage and remove any visible debris or paper pieces.
- Clean the carriage path using a lint-free cloth and ensure there is no ink or dust buildup.
Reset the Printer:
- Unplug the printer while it is turned on.
- Wait for 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. Check the HP Support website for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any damage.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges properly, ensuring they are securely seated.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
