I have been gifted a used printer. It has no ink. I was trying to register for instant ink but need a claim code. I have been trying unsuccessfully for the last 5 hours to find this code.

I can't print the page as no ink and no e print or printer email address which I can see.

Can someone help?

Hi @DeDe19,

I'd like to help.

I understand you would get the claim code but the cartridges in the printer have no ink in them.

Claim code can be obtained either from the information page or the printer screen.

Printers with a touchscreen or text-based display

Connect your printer to the web, and then get the printer code.

  1. Turn on the printer, load plain paper in the input tray, and make sure ink or toner cartridges are installed.

  2. Turn on Web Services:

    • Touchscreen displays: On the printer, touch the HP ePrint button or icon . Touch Setup, and then follow the on-screen instructions to turn on Web Services.

    • Text-based displays: On the printer, navigate to Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings, and then follow the on-screen instructions to turn on Web Services.

If Web Services is already enabled, touch Print or Print Info.

The info page prints with the printer code listed.

  3. On the info page, find the Printer Code or Printer Claim Code.

If the info page only has the printer's email address, remove and then re-enable Web Services. A new info page prints with the Claim Code.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
