Hello Kim442,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting HP DeskJet 2855e Printing Only Blue

If your HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer is only printing in blue and not utilizing other colors from the color cartridge, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Ink Levels:

    • Ensure that the color ink cartridge has sufficient ink. On your HP Smart app or printer software, check the estimated ink levels.
  2. Perform a Printer Head Cleaning:

    • Use the printer software on your computer to perform a cleaning of the printhead. This can help resolve clogged nozzles that might be preventing other colors from printing.
    • Go to the HP Smart app or HP Printer Assistant, navigate to printer maintenance, and choose the option to clean the printhead.
  3. Run a Test Print:

    • Print a Printer Status Report or a Quality Diagnostic Page from the printer settings. This can help to see if the color ink is consistently missing or if the nozzle cleaning has helped improve the print quality.
  4. Check Cartridge Installation:

    • Ensure that the color cartridge is installed correctly in the printer. Open the cartridge access door, remove the color cartridge, and carefully reinsert it into its slot. Make sure it clicks into place securely.
  5. Check for Clogs or Dried Ink:

    • On the cartridge, check the copper-colored contacts and nozzles. Clean these gently with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  6. Update Printer Firmware:

    • Check if there is any firmware update available for your printer model. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve printing issues.
  7. Align the Printer:

    • Use the printer software to align the printhead. This is available in the maintenance or settings section of your printer software.
  8. Replace the Cartridge:

    • If the problem persists despite these efforts, there might be an issue with the cartridge itself. Consider replacing it with a new, genuine HP color ink cartridge to see if that resolves the issue.
  9. Contact HP Support:

    • If none of these steps work, there could be a more significant issue with the printer hardware that requires professional assistance. Reaching out to HP Support is recommended to further diagnose and resolve the problem.
