Colours appear to be printing very dull. It is not possible to print greens, reds or blues. I have cleaned the printer as per diagnostic instructions but the problem persisted. I replaced the colour ink cartridge but I still have the same issue

Hi @nely0503,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the print settings on your computer match the type of paper you are using. Using incorrect settings can lead to color discrepancies. Select "Best" printing quality for better color results.

Color Calibration:

  • Some printers have a feature for color calibration or printhead alignment. Check your printer's manual or settings menu for color calibration options to ensure the printer is correctly aligned and calibrated for color accuracy.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

  • Check and update your printer’s firmware and drivers. You can do this by visiting the HP Support website and downloading the latest versions for your model.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, as third-party or refilled cartridges might not provide the same quality and consistency in color output.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Double-check the ink levels to ensure cartridges are sufficiently filled. Sometimes even new cartridges might not be recognized correctly.

Paper Quality:

  • Using the incorrect type of paper can affect print quality. Ensure you are using the recommended paper for color printing, as it can influence the final output significantly.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Perform a deep clean of printheads if your printer has this option. This is more thorough than standard cleaning and can help resolve persistent issues.

Print Diagnostic Reports:

  • Use the diagnostic print or report feature to see if there are any noticeable errors or issues with color printing which might not be visible otherwise.

I hope this helps.
