I just bought a new HP deskjet 2700 printer 1 week ago. I am attempting to print a vertical Christmas card (so paper is horizontal) made in Pages on my iPad Air 2. The printer keeps cutting off the end that you open (which would be the side of the picture) leaving about a 1/2 inch margin. I have made multiple Christmas cards in past years in the exact same way and have never come across this problem before. I have wasted a good portion of the ink that came with the printer and my expensive matte photo paper trying to resolve this issue on my own! Help please!

Welcome to the HP Community --
The source of the result is the printer itself.
What?
Printers in the DeskJet series -- current to this writing --
- Require a larger margin along the bottom edge.
- The printers do not support Borderless.
I would guess that your previous printer was not a DeskJet.
True -- changing the orientation merely moves the larger margin requirement to the side.
These are hardware limitations -- there is no software or application "fix" to override the mechanics.
| Borderless Printing | No |
and
| Print Margin Bottom (A4) | 12.7 mm |
| Print Margin Left (A4) | 3 mm |
| Print Margin Right (A4) | 3 mm |
| Print Margin Top (A4) | 3 mm |
The solutions:
- Edit the original document
- Set the margins to no smaller then "narrow" (12.7mm or 1/2 inch all around)
- Do not select Borderless, Fill, or "Print to edge"
- Depending on the content, print as "Fit", "Shrink to fit", or similar

Thank you for replying. My previous printer was a Deskjet 3630 and I didn’t have this problem with it. I am making this card in Pages on an iPad and it does not have the options you suggest to try. I will be returning this printer tomorrow and purchasing a canon printer. I’m fed up with hp!

You are welcome.
Good Luck -- too bad about the Deskjet.
The economy Deskjets are not all inclusive of what HP offers.
If you decide to stay with HP, consider trying a different type of printer that supports more of what you like.
Example - Supports Borderless printing.
