My printer suddenly does not print with all ink colors. 1 brand new, original HP cartridge prints with no cyan, 2 don't have magenta. I've tried cleaning the cartridges, did "Clean Printhead" function (which is how i found out the cyan and magenta color blocks do not appear), did a hard reset of printer too. But the problem persists. HELP!!!

Hi @Cathleendls,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you’ve already done a lot of troubleshooting, but the issue might be deeper than just cartridge or printhead problems. Here are a few additional steps you can try:
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that all cartridges are installed correctly and securely. Sometimes, even a small misalignment can cause issues.
- Inspect Cartridges and Printhead: Check for any protective tape that might have been left on the cartridges or printhead. If there’s any residue, clean it gently with a lint-free cloth.
- Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve printing issues. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or on the HP website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Print Head Alignment: Perform a print head alignment. This option is usually available in the printer’s settings menu. Misalignment can affect print quality.
- Print a Test Page: Print a diagnostic or test page to check if the printer’s self-diagnosis can identify the problem. Sometimes, this can help pinpoint where the issue lies.
- Try Different Paper: Use different types of paper, as sometimes the paper itself can cause issues with print quality.
- Replace Cartridges Again: Even though you’ve used new cartridges, they might still be defective. Try replacing them with different new cartridges to rule out a defect.
- Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings on your computer are set to print in color. Sometimes settings might default to grayscale or black and white.
