Hi @jah3badger ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the E0 error message on your HP ENVY Pro 6455 usually indicates an issue with the ink cartridges or their installation. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure that the new ink cartridge is compatible with your printer model. Sometimes using non-HP cartridges or incorrect cartridges can cause errors.
Reinstall the Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the new black ink cartridge and gently reinstall it, making sure it clicks into place.
- Close the cartridge access door and plug the printer back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
Clean the Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, gently wipe the metal contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer where the cartridge sits.
- Reinstall the cartridge and power the printer back on.
Check for Protective Tape: If the new cartridge has any protective tape or cover, make sure it has been removed before installing it.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve issues with recognizing cartridges. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try using another new cartridge to see if the issue persists. It could be that the cartridge itself is faulty.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
