I have just bought a second hand HP Deskjet 2700 All in One as my previous printer died on me.
I was already enrolled in Instant Ink.
When I try to change it for the old printer in Instant Ink I get the error
"Printer enrolled to another Instant Ink Account and cant be enrolled yet"
I got in touch with the previous owner to delete the printer from their account and they dont know how to do it.
I don't think they are that interested in helping me out either as they now have sold the printer on
Is there any way I can get someone from HP to delete the printer from the old account so I can get this enrolled on my account ?
thanks
HP Deskjet 2710

Welcome to the HP Community --
The previous owner might be more interested in the subject if he is billed for an Instant Ink subscription that he did not bother to cancel. ?
The issue can be sorted.
You will need an HP Instant Ink Support agent to access private information (that is) not available to those of us "outside" of HP.
"Side bar" notes:
If the printer came to your with the ink cartridges still installed, these will have to be replaced when you manage to add the printer to your own Instant Ink account.
Ink cartridges left in the printer will have locked with the disruption in service and the moving of the hardware.
Instant Ink cartridges only work with an active subscription. They cannot be transferred from one account owner to another account.
Plan to remove all the cartridges and plan to return them to HP. (Recycling is free.)

thanks for your reply
i did manage to speak to HP Instant Ink on the phone earlier and they looked at the previous owners account and they still had an active subscription so they couldnt remove it so i could enroll the printer on my account.
I have messaged the previous owners and told them how to remove the printer and also gave them the telephone number to contact HP. But had no reply, I dont think they are intertested
I can see how they may eventually decide to cancel it when they are paying a monthly fee for nothing, but if its only a small payment (99p a month, as they werent printing a lot, by the looks of the printer information page) then they may not even notice this and I could be unable to use the printer for months.
Not sure how to progress further
Thanks for the headsup about the ink cartridges, I did suspect that.
I also have remaining cartridges from my old printer that are unused and are the same type 305, would I be able to use these in the new printer or would I have to wait for replacements to be sent out.
It does seem now that Instant Ink is being more trouble than its worth. Maybe I will just go out and buy some cartridges instead ?
thanks again for your help

You are welcome.
If the unused cartridges you have are tied to an Instant Ink account / subscription, then - No, they cannot be used in another printer, even one of the same model.
If the unused cartridges are not tied in any way to an Instant Ink account / subscription, and the printer did not have an Instant Ink account in the new / replacement printer, then ... maybe yes -- if you could clear the printer of any association with any Instant Ink account. As you say, the printer thinks it is connected to a current account.
I don't find a way in the User Guide to set the printer back to Factory Defaults.
Removing Web Services might work but it also removes much of the printer's ability to connect / use HP Smart and much of the functionality that HP Smart provides.
What? HP Smart is both an application and the means used to help the printer connect and maintain services other than just that pesky Instant Ink subscription tied to an uncaring previous owner of the hardware.
Honestly, I've never had an Instant Ink subscription nor have I had a DeskJet printer of any kind.
I might be missing something -- I don't see a way out.
I'll send a message to our Moderator team to see if they have any input.
Should there be a response, look for a message here before the agent uses other means to contact you.
Rats.
