Product: HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

HP Officejet Pro 8610 Print-Fax-Scan 

 

Had issue with my HP ProDesk computer and replaced/upgraded drives and shifted to MS 11 from MS 10;  Also MS 365.

 

Everything was running well but ink was low.  Replaced all cartridges with HP cartridges.  Magenta, Yellow and Black all read filled but Cyan continues to show empty cartridge/no ink and is blocking any print options.   Shows "printer failure - ink system error" message.  Diagnostics show everything working and connected. I have searched the support community responses to this (or similar problem) and virtually all indicated the error results from the CYAN cartridge suggesting this is a hardware defect that rears its ugly head after several years of useage!!  Why only CYAN????

 

Tried the basic fixes such as turn off/on, unplug/plug, check copper connector on cartridge, lightly clean cartridge carrier, etc.  Nothing works.   Is this a fatal failure, or can part be replaced?  Cost?  Is a new printer more cost effective?
