Hi @Sgchap369,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've tried a lot of the usual troubleshooting steps already. Given that you’re still getting the “printhead missing/defective” error even after replacing the printhead and updating the software, here are a few additional things you can try.

Check the Printhead Installation:

  • Make sure the new printhead is installed correctly. Sometimes the printhead needs to be firmly seated in its slot. Remove it and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks into place.

Inspect the Contacts:

  • Examine the electrical contacts on both the printhead and the printer where the printhead connects. Clean these contacts gently with a lint-free cloth or a small amount of isopropyl alcohol if they appear dirty or corroded.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or debris in the printhead area or paper path that could be causing the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the printer from power for about 10-15 minutes. This can sometimes clear temporary errors. Reconnect the printer and turn it on to see if the error persists.

Firmware Update:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes a firmware update can resolve persistent issues. Check the HP website for the latest firmware for your model.

Printer Settings Reset:

  • If possible, perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to default and might resolve the setup issues. Be aware that this will erase all current settings.

Check Compatibility:

  • Verify that the replacement printhead is compatible with your specific printer model. Using an incorrect printhead can lead to errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
