HP Recommended

I recently changed my color ink cartridges.  Since then, the printer has given an error message that there is a problem with the ink system, irregardless of every attempt to correct.  Upon further investigation it appears each of the color cartridges is leaking.  Because of the age and this problem with this printer I plan to buy a new printer.  All ink cartridges are very new with the black printing less than 20 pages prior to replacing the colors.  Is there any way I can  print with just  the black?  This cartridge is not defective.  I would like to just copy from the feeder and would be able to use some of the ink I have paid for and been unable to use.  I would like to do this manually but cannot do anything with the error message  continually presenting.  Thank you
