I live in UK and the cartridges I’m sent from HP are 64/303 804. I cannot buy 804 in UK and having looked up the difference, 804 Is New Zealand so why am I sent them?

Hi @JaPen,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how confusing this situation can be.
The cartridge numbers you’ve mentioned (HP 64 / 303 / 804) are region-specific supplies. HP printers are configured to work only with cartridges assigned to a particular region. For example, the UK typically uses HP 303 cartridges, while HP 804 cartridges are designated for other regions (such as Asia-Pacific markets). Because of this, cartridges from a different region may not be recognized by your printer.
To help narrow this down, could you please confirm:
- Have you recently moved from another country or changed your region settings on the printer?
- Are you enrolled in HP Instant Ink, or are you purchasing regular retail cartridges?
This is important because:
- Instant Ink cartridges are tied to your account and region. If there has been a region mismatch or account change, the cartridges may not work.
- Regular cartridges purchased from a different region (or sent incorrectly) will not be compatible due to regional locking.
What you can do:
- If you are in the UK, your printer should ideally be set to use HP 303 cartridges.
- If you’ve received HP 804 cartridges, they will not function unless the printer is configured for that region.
- In case of a recent move or incorrect shipment, a regional reset may be required to align the printer with UK cartridges.
Please share the details requested above, and we’ll guide you further.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
