Printer has an unfixed inherent fault which I have coped with over the years (I constantly have to restart each time I need to print anything).
Recently have started to get error messages saying ink is low even though cartridges have only just recently been replaced. Even more recently I have trouble maintaining a connection with the printer. I keep getting emails saying I need to connect the printer but it is connected just not communicating. However, now the most pressing problem is if a printing project decided it will print which is not always certain it just continues printing the same document over and over again or the same four pages or whatever random printing it thinks it will do. I have had to cancel my Printer plan as this last month alone the printer has randomly printed school more pages than I actually needed or asked for and this is going to cost me a fortune.
Of course I am now getting messages that HP will soon turn off my printing Ability altogether unless I reinstate my plan.
I find it increasingly difficult if not impossible to actually contact them about this problem chat is useless.
is this a known problem or is my Printer at the end of life? It certainly feels so it has never ever been reliable despite the cost and instant ink is handy in many ways. It is a real problem when it goes wrong like this and it feels wrong that a tech company can just reach into your home and control your Printer. can anyone advise a simple solution or do I take the easy way out and ditch HPO together?

You have a bad connection. Log into your modem and find the band with the clearest signal
Be sure to find the channel that has the least amount of noise
The 8024e can operate in the 2.4 and the 5ghz band. I suspect the problem is the SSID of both bands is the same and the printer gets a different IP address when it wakes up from sleep depending on which band it is assigned by the modem.
At the printers control panel look for the option to select 2.4, 5ghz or "auto" and select 2.4
Make the printer use only the 2.4ghz band. If there is no option in the printer, then you will have to log into the modem and rename one of the bands.
If you are comfortable with programming the modem, locate the printer in the modem by looking for it's IP address and assign the IP4 address as fixed in it's DHCP server. When it wakes up from sleep it will get the exact same IP address. A network or status printout will provide the MAC address and you lookup that address in the modem is another way to find the printer. if you have a flex system (multiple wifi boosters) this needs to be done.

Thank you, unfortunately at 78 you lost me at bad connection 😳
I have had this computer through 3 Broadband providers so perhaps this problem would have sorted itself out? The latest problem is only since switching to full fibre and they have actually sent engineers out to see if they could find the problem within their setup but nothing found absolutely everything else works well but this printer has had problems since day one. It has been moved and reconnected so many times there is not a corner of the house we haven’t tried at some time.
If I can get someone to come and try your suggestions I will but I have to pay anyone who comes whatever the result and at the end of the day what with that and whatever exhorbitent bill I am going to get from instant ink it might work out cheaper to purchase a less complicated printer. This continuous printing has already used well over 100 sheets this week and I only budget for 10 per month!

Contact the ISP and have them change the SSID of the 2.4ghz band to a name different from the 5ghz band.
When you connect the printer, look for the name of the 2.4ghz band
does your fiber setup have multiple wifi boosters about your location?
