Hi @Gillgur27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP printer’s black ink quality is poor. Try these HP-recommended actions:

Use a higher print-quality setting:

  • On supported HP PageWide printers:

Settings > Copy/Print > Default Print Options > Quality Level

  • Choose:

    • Professional for normal print speed and ink usage.

    • Presentation for the highest print quality and more vivid output

Clean the printhead/cartridge:

  • For streaks, white lines, or missing black areas:

    • On HP PageWide models:

Support Tools > Maintenance > Calibration/Cleaning > Advanced Calibration Support > Clean the Printhead

    • On HP Photosmart models:

Menu > Tools > Clean cartridge

  • HP notes that cleaning may need to be repeated if streaks or missing colors remain.

Use better paper:

  • Low-quality paper dust can block nozzles and cause streaks.

  • HP recommends quality paper and papers with ColorLok Technology for better drying and print quality.

  • If print shows strike-through or weak output, try a heavier paper.

Check cartridge condition:

  • Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly.

  • Use genuine HP ink cartridges for best results.

  • If cleaning does not help after repeated attempts, the black cartridge may need replacement.

Power off the printer correctly:

  • Always turn the printer off using the power button. Improper shutdown can let ink dry in the nozzles and cause black streaks or missing print.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
