I have removed the sticker parts on the ink cartridges but when I put the ink cartridges back in, it shows no ink cartridges.  I reviewed how to put them in and they are in correctly. Not sure why it's not working.

Hi @TSugar36

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how disappointing it must feel to carefully install the cartridges only to see the printer report that none are detected. Thank you for already checking the placement and removing the protective stickers—that’s an important first step.

Let’s go through a detailed sequence to refresh the connection and bring the cartridges back to life.

Step 1: Power Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds to allow the printer to fully discharge.
  • Plug the cord back in and power on the printer.

Step 2: Reseat the Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove each cartridge one by one.
  • Inspect the copper-colored electrical contacts for any dust or residue.
  • Gently wipe the contacts with a lint‑free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

Step 3: Check Cartridge Venting

  • Ensure the orange pull tab or vent strip on each cartridge is fully removed.
  • If the vent is blocked, ink flow may be restricted and the printer may not recognize the cartridge.

Step 4: Run Printer Maintenance

  • From the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Clean Cartridges.
  • After cleaning, run Align Cartridges to ensure proper recognition.
  • Print a test page to confirm detection.

Step 5: Firmware Refresh

  • On your Windows 11 computer, open the HP App.
  • Select your printer, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings, and check for firmware updates.
  • Install any available updates, then restart the printer.

Step 6: Test Again

  • Try printing a few pages.
  • If the cartridges are detected, the issue is resolved.

I know it can feel frustrating when everything looks correctly installed but the printer still resists. These steps often re‑establish the electrical handshake between the cartridges and the printer. Once the cleaning and firmware refresh are complete, the cartridges should be recognized consistently and you’ll be able to print without interruption.
