Hi @rbz1819,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-In-One Printer is showing full ink cartridges but printing blank pages, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check for Printhead Issues:
The printhead may be clogged or misaligned. You can use the printer's built-in tools to clean and align the printhead.
Clean the Printhead:
- From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and then tap the Setup icon.
- Tap Printer Maintenance.
- Tap Clean Printhead. The printer will perform a cleaning process.
Align the Printhead:
- From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and then tap the Setup icon.
- Tap Printer Maintenance.
- Tap Align Printhead. Follow the on-screen instructions.
2. Check the Ink Cartridges:
Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly and are not defective.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any visible damage or leaks.
- Reinsert the cartridges, making sure they click into place securely.
3. Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date.
- Download and install the latest firmware update from the HP Support website.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
4. Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Report:
Running a print-quality diagnostic report can help identify the issue.
- From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and then tap the Setup icon.
- Tap Printer Maintenance.
- Tap Print Quality Report. The printer will print a diagnostic page.
5. Reset the Printer:
Sometimes a reset can resolve printing issues.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
6. Check Printer Software and Drivers:
Make sure you have the latest printer software and drivers installed on your computer.
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for your printer model.
- Install the updates and restart your computer.
7. Perform a Hard Reset:
A hard reset can sometimes resolve deeper issues.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
