Hi @rbz1819,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-In-One Printer is showing full ink cartridges but printing blank pages, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check for Printhead Issues:

The printhead may be clogged or misaligned. You can use the printer's built-in tools to clean and align the printhead.

Clean the Printhead:

  1. From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and then tap the Setup icon.
  2. Tap Printer Maintenance.
  3. Tap Clean Printhead. The printer will perform a cleaning process.

Align the Printhead:

  1. From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and then tap the Setup icon.
  2. Tap Printer Maintenance.
  3. Tap Align Printhead. Follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges:

Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly and are not defective.

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  2. Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any visible damage or leaks.
  3. Reinsert the cartridges, making sure they click into place securely.

3. Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date.

  1. Download and install the latest firmware update from the HP Support website.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

4. Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Report:

Running a print-quality diagnostic report can help identify the issue.

  1. From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and then tap the Setup icon.
  2. Tap Printer Maintenance.
  3. Tap Print Quality Report. The printer will print a diagnostic page.

5. Reset the Printer:

Sometimes a reset can resolve printing issues.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

6. Check Printer Software and Drivers:

Make sure you have the latest printer software and drivers installed on your computer.

  1. Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for your printer model.
  2. Install the updates and restart your computer.

7. Perform a Hard Reset:

A hard reset can sometimes resolve deeper issues.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
  5. Turn the printer back on.
