@Buddyboy420, Hi there, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

I understand your HP printer is not using ink to print, and I’ll be happy to help you resolve this issue.

Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix the problem:

Check Ink Levels

Make sure your printer has sufficient ink in the cartridges.

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Ink Levels (or similar, depending on your model).
  • You can also check ink levels using the HP Smart app: HP Smart

Clean Printhead

If ink levels are fine, the printhead might be clogged.

  • On the printer, go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • You may need to run the cleaning cycle 2–3 times for best results.

Print a Diagnostic Page

This helps identify if the issue is with the hardware or software.

  • Go to Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report.
  • Check if any colors are missing or faded.

Reinstall or Replace Cartridges

Sometimes, cartridges may not be seated properly or may be defective.

  • Remove and reinstall the cartridges.
  • If the issue persists, try replacing them with genuine HP cartridges.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause printing issues.
