Microsoft Windows 11

Printer is not printing after ink cartridges where changed, keeps stalling as it was going processing the job but never prints and when I try to cancel the job on the printer it fails to do so. I have to cancel from the computer and reboot printer so it doesn't show the job anymore. FRUSTRATING!!!

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 
I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer stops working right after changing the ink cartridges. Let's walk through some steps to get your HP Envy 6555e printing again.

Check Cartridge Installation

Make sure the new cartridges are properly installed:

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Ensure each cartridge clicks into place and is seated correctly.
  • Remove and reinsert them if needed.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause issues. Confirm you're using genuine HP ink.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

Clear Print Queue on Windows 11

Sometimes jobs get stuck in the queue:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click and select Stop.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  • Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause communication issues:

  • Open the HP Smart app or go to the printer’s Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.

Reset the Printer

If the issue persists:

  • On the printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults
