HP OfficeJet 6958 All-in-One Printer

I replaced an ink cartridge and now when I try to print, it states that it is an older version that is not compatible with the printer. I replaced the depleted cartridge with a genuine HP cartridge that I had just purchased. I have tried the trouble shooting but nothing is working. Help! I refuse to buy another printer because this one is perfectly fine.
