HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I have the HP OfficeJet 5255 Printer. I've had this for a few years now. Recently, it is only printing blank pages. My previous ink was starting to get low, so once the blank pages started, I assumed it was just out of ink. But, I replaced the ink with the same ink, but brand new, and it's still printing blank pages.

I've tried all the recommendations I've found online, and still no change. I don't want to have to buy a new printer, but I can't figure out why it is only printing out blank pages, now even with brand new ink.

Thanks for the help.

Hi @Matt24536

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 5255 is only printing blank pages even after replacing the ink cartridges, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the new ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reseat them to confirm they’re secure.

Remove Protective Tape:

  • Double-check that any protective tape or plastic covering on the new cartridges has been removed. Sometimes, a small piece can be overlooked.

Run Printer Maintenance:

  • Use the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app to run a cleaning cycle or maintenance routine. This can help clear any blockages in the printhead.

Check for Clogged Printheads:

  • If the printer allows, perform a printhead cleaning. This is often available in the printer settings or through the HP Smart app.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a self-test or diagnostic page from the printer’s control panel. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the software.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Ensure that you’re using the correct print settings. Sometimes, selecting the wrong paper type or print quality can lead to blank pages. Check the settings in the print dialog.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for any available updates for your model.

Check for Other Issues:

  • Look for any error messages on the printer's display. If there are any error codes, they can provide clues about the problem.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
