Hi @Karenshawn

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP printer, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If your HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer is suddenly printing eBay labels in a larger size than expected, there could be several causes behind this issue. It could be related to print settings, scaling issues, or even how the document is being sent to the printer.

Here are the steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings in eBay

  • Go to eBay and find the label you're trying to print.
  • Before clicking "Print," double-check the printer settings in eBay’s print dialog.
  • Ensure you are selecting the correct paper size and scaling options.
    • Paper size: Make sure you're using a standard label size, such as 4x6 inches for shipping labels.
    • Scaling: If it's set to "Fit to Page" or "Auto," try changing it to "Actual Size" or "No Scaling" to avoid any resizing.

2. Adjust Print Settings from Printer Properties

Method 1: Using Print Dialog on Windows

  1. Open the print dialog in eBay (or any program you're printing from, like your browser).
  2. Select HP OfficeJet 3830 as your printer.
  3. Click on Printer Properties or Preferences (usually a button under the printer name).
  4. Under the Paper/Quality tab, ensure that Paper Size is set to 4x6 inches (or the size required for your label).
  5. Look for any Scaling options in the Layout or Advanced settings. Set it to Actual Size or 100% to avoid auto-resizing.
  6. Click Apply and OK to save the changes.

Method 2: Using HP Printer Settings

  1. Go to Control Panel on your computer (search for it in the Start menu).
  2. Open Devices and Printers.
  3. Right-click on HP OfficeJet 3830 and select Printing Preferences.
  4. In the Paper/Quality tab, ensure the paper size is set to the correct label size (e.g., 4x6 inches).
  5. Check for any scaling options and ensure they are set to None or Actual Size.
  6. Click Apply and OK.

3. Check for Driver or Software Issues

  1. Go to the HP website (support.hp.com).
  2. Search for your printer model (HP OfficeJet 3830).
  3. Download and install the latest driver and software.
  4. After installing the driver, restart your computer and try printing again.

4. Check Browser Settings (if printing from a web browser

  1. Open the print dialog (press Ctrl + P).
  2. Check if there are any scaling options under the More settings section.
  3. Select Actual Size or 100% scaling.

5. Use a PDF Reader (if applicable)

  1. Open the label PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. When printing, ensure that the Page Scaling option is set to None or Actual Size.
  3. Also, check that the correct paper size (e.g., 4x6 inches) is selected.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
