I have an HP tango printer and suddenly the printer isn’t opening to let me switch out the ink cartridges. Orange light on sometimes or no light. I tried turning the printer on and off and no changes. Any advice or should I just get a new printer?

Hi @Synnx1, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP Tango printer should automatically move the printhead carriage to the center when you open the ink access door, allowing you to replace the cartridges. Since this isn't happening and you're seeing an orange light or no light at all, here are a few troubleshooting steps to try before considering a replacement:
Check Power and Connections
- Ensure the printer is plugged directly into a working wall outlet (not a power strip).
- Try a different power outlet if possible.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds to force a hard reset.
Reset the Printer
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Check if the ink carriage moves when you open the ink access door.
Open the Ink Door Correctly
- Open the entire front panel of the printer (not just the scanner lid).
- Listen for any sounds of the carriage trying to move.
- If it doesn't move, gently wiggle the carriage (without force) to see if it's stuck.
Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions
- Open the paper tray and the rear access door.
- Remove any jammed paper or debris.
- Try turning on the printer again.
Check the Status of the Orange Light
- Blinking Orange Light: May indicate a paper jam, connection issue, or ink problem.
- No Light: The printer might not be getting power.
Update Firmware (if possible)
- If the printer powers on but doesn’t work properly, try updating the firmware using the HP Smart App on your phone or computer.
Try a Different Power Adapter (if available)
- If you have access to another compatible HP Tango power adapter, test if the issue is due to a power failure.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
