Microsoft Windows 11

I own a HP Envy 5541 and it's been great but I've just printed out an A4 poster Print I created and there's quality issues.

The image has a lot of block colour (Red) and on the right-hand side it prints fine but on the left I can see lines where it is darker. I have cleaned cartridges multiple times and changed inks but no improvement,

I know some printers aren't great at printing solid blocks of colour but I've not had this problem before and it's only 1 half of teh page. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi @Pmiddle ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken some good troubleshooting steps by cleaning the cartridges and replacing the inks. Since the issue is only present on one half of the page, it could be related to the printhead or alignment. Here are some additional steps you can try:

Check Printhead Alignment:

  • Your printer should have a utility or option to align the printhead. This ensures that the nozzles are properly aligned, which can affect print quality. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to align the printhead.

Print a Diagnostic Page:

  • Many HP printers have a diagnostic or test page feature. Print a diagnostic page to see if the issue persists. This page usually contains patterns and colors that can help identify problems with the printhead.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Sometimes, driver issues can contribute to print quality problems. Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can address various issues, including print quality problems. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website.

Inspect Printhead for Clogs:

  • Even if you've cleaned the cartridges, there may still be clogs in the printhead. Refer to your printer's manual for guidance on how to manually clean the printhead. Be careful and follow the instructions to avoid damage.

Print in Draft Mode:

  • Try printing the poster in draft mode to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, using a lower print quality setting can help identify whether the problem is related to the printer itself or the print job.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
