Hi @JesandJo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To address the issue with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw printer not giving prints and showing cartridge-related errors, you can follow these steps.
Check Cartridge Levels
- Check the Cartridge Status:
- On the printer's control panel, go to the 'Setup' or 'Settings' menu.
- Select 'Reports' and then 'Supply Status' to view the toner level.
Replace or Reinstall Cartridges
Replace Low or Empty Cartridges:
- If the toner level is low or empty, replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
- Follow the instructions in the printer manual for replacing the toner cartridge.
Reinstall Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the cartridge access door and remove the toner cartridge.
- Gently shake the cartridge to distribute the toner evenly.
- Reinsert the cartridge, close the access door, and turn on the printer.
Clear Print Queue
- Clear Print Queue on Your Computer:
- Open the 'Devices and Printers' or 'Printers & Scanners' settings on your computer.
- Locate your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw printer, right-click, and select 'See what's printing' or 'Open print queue'.
- Cancel all pending print jobs.
Restart Printer and Computer
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Restart Your Computer:
- Restart your computer to clear any temporary issues.
Check Printer Connectivity
- Ensure the Printer is Connected:
- Make sure the printer is properly connected to your computer or network.
- If using a USB connection, check the cable and port.
- If using a wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Install the updated drivers on your computer.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.
- Restart your computer and then reinstall the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
- Follow the instructions to update the printer firmware if needed.
Perform a Printer Reset
- Factory Reset:
- On the printer's control panel, go to 'Setup' or 'Settings'.
- Select 'Service' or 'Restore Defaults', and then choose 'Restore Factory Defaults'.
- Note that this will reset all settings to their defaults, so you may need to reconfigure network settings.
I hope this helps.
