My printer will not print Cyan.  During the "Clean Print Head" cycle, instead of Cyan/Blue, Orange is printed.  The Magenta and Yellow Print fine. Here is the list of things I tried from various threads and forums.  This is my last ditch effort before throwing it in the trash and buying a new one.

  1. Hard reset of printer:  took all the cartridges out and unplugged the printer cable. Unplugged cable from surge protector. Waited 3 minutes. Held down the Power button for 30 seconds to release any remaining charge. Plugged cord into wall. Plugged back into printer. Powered up. Replaced the cartridges. Printed test page. RESULT:  FAIL
  2. Run through the full Clean Print Head cycle:  once through, didn't work, pressed yes to try 2nd level, didn't work. Pressed yes to try 3rd level; didn't work.  RESULT: Wasted a lot of ink, Still prints orange in the cyan spot FAIL
  3. Check if it's isolated to the print feature:  Took a page with a lot of blue and tried to make a copy. RESULT: FAIL
  4. Check if it's a messed up cyan cartridge:  Bought new cartridge and replaced. RESULT: wasted money; FAIL

Does anyone have other options? It doesn't look like the print head in my model is removable or i would manually clean it with warm water (saw an HP video on Youtube).  The printer is not under warranty so if it does sound like I need a new printhead, if anyone know the cost of it, that would be helpful.

I tried all of the tips and it still did not work. Called Customer Support and explained this. The only course of action provided was to purchase a new printer because mine was no longer in warranty.
