HP ENVY Photo 6255 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Entire lines are missing and parts of other lines are missing. Cartridge is showing 1/2 full on screen. I selected clean on printer screen, but it didn't help. On screen I then did a diagnositics page, but I can't read most of the page that came out with the diagnosis...I can read the following...

1. ink levels ok and ink is genuine.

2. is about settings, but I haven't changed them ever, so that's not it.

3. Blank (didn't print, so no idea what #3 is)

4. if color blocks below are streaked/missing, clean cartridges (I did that but it didn't help)

5. alignment issue if lines are crooked (the partial lines that are there appear not to be crooked)

6.Blank (didn't print, so no idea what #6 is)

7. "if images above look ok, printer working fine" (Don't have any images above, so clearly not working fine)
Please advise what's going on or if there is a customer service number I can call for assistance.

Hi @seamonkey12 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing issues with your HP ENVY Photo 6255 All-In-One Printer that could be related to printhead alignment, clogged nozzles, or a malfunctioning printhead. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Perform a Printhead Cleaning

Since you've already performed a basic cleaning through the printer screen, try a more thorough cleaning using your printer software:

  1. Open HP Printer Assistant:
    • On your Windows 10 computer, search for "HP Printer Assistant" in the Start menu and open it.
  2. Printhead Cleaning:
    • In HP Printer Assistant, go to the Utilities or Tools section.
    • Look for an option like Clean Printhead or Deep Cleaning and run it.

Step 2: Align the Printhead

  1. Access Printer Software:
    • Again, through the HP Printer Assistant, find the alignment tool.
  2. Align Printhead:
    • Follow the prompts to align the printhead, which can help resolve issues with print quality and missing lines.

Step 3: Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure your printer firmware is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and improve performance.

  1. Check for Updates:
    • In HP Printer Assistant, look for an option to check for firmware updates.
    • If an update is available, follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Step 4: Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, resetting the printer can resolve various issues:

  1. Turn Off Printer:
    • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait and Restart:
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Step 5: Replace the Cartridges

Even if the ink levels are showing as half full, there could be an issue with the cartridges themselves:

  1. Replace Cartridges:
    • Replace the current cartridges with new ones to see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Ink level showed 1/2 but replacing ink worked, so how does that mean the printer isn’t reading the levels properly or does that mean the cartridge went bad 1/2 way through?
