I have purchased a HP DeskJet 2800 series and using HP ink. The printer is hours old and it will not print the colour blue. Various tests, alignments have been carried out with none improving the issue.
Instead of blue the colour in a pink?

Hi @William1960
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP DeskJet 2800 series printer is not printing blue and instead produces a pink hue, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check Ink Levels
- Make sure that the blue (cyan) ink cartridge is not low or empty. Sometimes, new cartridges can have issues, so check if it's properly installed.
2. Clean the Print Head
- Print quality issues can often be resolved by cleaning the print head. Here's how to do it:
- Open the HP Smart app or go to the Printers settings on your computer.
- Look for an option for Clean Printheads or Print Head Cleaning and follow the instructions.
3. Perform a Printhead Alignment
- Misalignment can affect color output. Run a printhead alignment from the printer settings or the HP Smart app.
4. Check for Air Bubbles
- Sometimes, air bubbles can get trapped in the ink cartridges. To resolve this:
- Remove the cyan cartridge and gently shake it horizontally to help dislodge any bubbles.
- Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again.
5. Use the Correct Paper
- Ensure you’re using the correct type of paper for printing. Some paper types can affect color quality.
6. Print a Diagnostic Page
- Print a diagnostic page or a test page from the printer settings to check color output. This will help you determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the document you’re trying to print.
7. Check Color Settings
- Make sure your color settings are set to print in color. If you are printing from an application, check the print settings in that app as well.
8. Update Drivers
- Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can do this via the HP website or the HP Smart app.
9. Try Different Documents
- Test printing different documents or images to see if the issue is consistent across all files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
