I understand the printer is not printing in color. Did you try printing a quality report to check the result after cleaning the ink cartridges?
Also, try making a standalone copy in color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
(Not sure if you meant copying by scanning in your post) Scanning does not involve ink cartridges.
Perform steps 7, 11, and 9 from this document if not tried already - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
