HP DeskJet 4130e All-in-One Printer

I am trying to print off a single page document, but a red light is flashing, which I think indicates either that there is no paper in the tray, which is not correct, or that it is misfeeding. Any suggestions? There is no paper jam.It is an HP DeskJet4130E. Thanks in anticipation!

Hi @DV47,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 4130e is not feeding paper and showing a flashing light, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Paper Tray and Paper Quality:

  • Ensure the paper is correctly loaded in the tray, aligned with the paper guides, and not curled, wrinkled, or stuck together.
  • Try using a small stack of fresh paper, as the rollers may have difficulty feeding older or damaged sheets.

Clean the Paper Rollers:

  • Dust or debris on the paper rollers can prevent the paper from feeding. You can clean the rollers manually by opening the paper tray and using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Gently wipe down the rollers inside the tray area.
  • Ensure the rollers are dry before attempting to print again.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.

Run a Printer Diagnostic:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer (if installed) and navigate to “Printer Maintenance” or “Tools” to run a diagnostic. This can help detect any specific errors related to paper feed issues.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Outdated firmware can sometimes lead to operational issues. Use the HP Smart app or the HP Support website to check if there’s an update available for your printer model.

If these steps don’t solve the issue, the paper feed mechanism may have a hardware problem.
