We purchased a new printer a couple of months ago as the last one had failed. It is used at least once a week. This morning it went through the motions, made the right noises but the sheet was blank. Disconnected and reconnected but still the same outcome. Both colour and black ink tanks say they are ok. Went through doctor app and the test page colour was ok. lines ok ish but the alphabet was faint a bit hazy and greenish in colour. As requested changed the quality to high which made no difference. The printed sheet has nothing on it not even the faint, hazy light greenish printing as on the test page. Help!

Hi @962T ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for your reply

It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, but let's try a few more to see if we can resolve the issue:

  • Clean the printhead: Sometimes, printheads can get clogged with dried ink, which can result in poor print quality or blank pages. Most printers have a utility for cleaning the printheads. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings or maintenance menu. Run the printhead cleaning utility and see if it improves the print quality.
  • Check ink levels: Even if the printer indicates that the ink tanks are okay, it's worth double-checking the ink levels to ensure they are sufficient for printing. Sometimes the ink levels reported by the printer may not be accurate. Replace any ink cartridges that are low or empty.
  • Align the printhead: Printers often have an option to align the printhead, which can help ensure that the ink is being applied correctly onto the paper. Look for this option in the printer's settings or maintenance menu and follow the instructions to align the printhead.
  • Check paper type and quality: Ensure that you are using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer. Using low-quality or incompatible paper can sometimes cause printing issues. Try using a different type of paper and see if it makes a difference.
  • Update printer drivers: Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing problems. Check the HP website for the latest drivers for your printer model and install them if necessary. Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2720e All-in-One Printer
  • Inspect for physical obstructions: Open the printer cover and inspect for any paper jams or foreign objects that may be obstructing the printing process. Clear any obstructions that you find and then try printing again.
  • Reset the printer: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can sometimes fix software-related problems. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Refer to this document: HP DeskJet 2720e All-in-One Printer user manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
