My printer is stating "cartridge is not connecting to printer" when I'm attempting to print documents. It worked yesterday. Now it's not, I subscribed so I will get ink delivered. I've powered the printer off and on

Hi @Jamie5024
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP Envy 6555e is having trouble recognizing the ink cartridges, even though it was working fine before.
Let’s troubleshoot this step by step to resolve the issue:
1. Check for Cartridge Compatibility
Make sure the cartridges installed are the correct model for the HP Envy 6555e and are compatible with the Instant Ink program.
If you recently received new cartridges from Instant Ink, ensure you’re using those and not previously purchased ones, as Instant Ink cartridges work only when your subscription is active.
2. Reinsert the Cartridges
Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source.
Open the printer's cartridge access door and carefully remove the ink cartridges.
Inspect the cartridges for any protective tape or debris on the contacts (gold or copper-colored areas). If there’s protective tape, remove it, but don’t touch the contacts.
Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their slots until you hear a click, ensuring they are seated properly.
Close the access door, reconnect the printer, and turn it back on.
3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts
If the issue persists, clean the cartridge and printer contacts:
Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
Let the contacts dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
4. Check Printer Firmware
HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.

5. Reset the Printer
Unplug the printer while it’s turned on and wait for about 60 seconds.
Plug it back in, turn it on, and see if the cartridge error clears.
6. Run HP Diagnostic Tools
Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor (available for Windows) or the HP Smart app to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with the cartridges.
