HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer

After the Windows 11 update, my printer will only work in WiFi Direct Mode. I can no longer print 2 sided because of that. Now I bought 2 sets of ink that the printer will not recognize. Thie printer was bought less than 1 years ago at Best Buy. I can't spend another $80 for ink to try again. I need this warranty replaced please.

Hi @ttttttt7

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing these issues with your printer—it must be frustrating, especially after a recent Windows update and new ink cartridges that aren’t being recognized.

Let’s work through some steps that can help restore full functionality and resolve the cartridge recognition problem.

Steps to Resolve Ink Cartridge Recognition Issues

Power Cycle the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and powering it on.

This simple reset can help the printer refresh and detect new cartridges.

Remove and Reinstall the Cartridges

Open the ink cartridge access door.

Carefully remove each cartridge.

Inspect the cartridges for protective tape or plastic still covering the contacts or nozzles, and remove it if present.

Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

Check for Firmware Updates

Updating the printer’s firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

Connect the printer to your network, then visit the printer’s Embedded Web Server or use the HP Smart app to check for updates.

Alternatively, download firmware updates from the official support site:

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

Sometimes resetting the printer can clear settings causing recognition errors.

Go to the printer’s Setup or Settings menu.

Choose Restore Defaults or Reset All Settings.

Reinstall the cartridges after the reset.

Addressing WiFi Direct Mode Limitations

Since the printer only works in WiFi Direct mode now and two-sided printing isn’t available, reconnecting the printer to your home WiFi network is important.

Forget WiFi Direct Connection on your laptop.

Reconnect the Printer to Your Home WiFi Network:

On the printer control panel, navigate to Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.

Follow the prompts to select your home WiFi network and enter the password.

After reconnecting, try printing a test page and enabling two-sided printing.

If the cartridges still aren’t recognized or reconnecting to WiFi is problematic, please let me know. I can guide you through further steps to restore smooth printing.
