Hi @SeanT1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're getting an “empty cartridges” error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e, even though you’ve just installed new ink cartridges.
1. Verify Cartridge Authenticity
Make sure you’re using HP Original Ink, not refills or third-party cartridges. HP+ and Instant Ink printers can reject non-HP chips.
- Go to the HP Smart app or the printer screen to check ink supply levels.
- If it shows “Non-HP cartridge detected” or “Used cartridge,” it may be a compatibility issue.
2. Re-seat the Cartridges
- Turn the printer on.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Press down gently to release each cartridge.
- Remove them all, wait 30 seconds, then reinstall firmly until they click.
3. Clean the Electrical Contacts
Sometimes, ink cartridges are marked as empty due to poor contact.
- Power off the printer.
- Remove the cartridges again.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
- Let it dry for 5 minutes before reinstalling.
4. Restart and Reset
- After reseating and cleaning, unplug the printer from the power.
- Wait 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.
- Check if the error clears.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
